Lavender oil - whether you love it or hate it, this is the world's best known essential oil, and for good reason!
Use Lavender to help with acne, anxiety and stress, insect bites, skin rashes and burns, headaches and migraines, sleep problems and even respiratory issues. It blends well with nearly all oils and unlike most essential oils, can be used directly on the skin (although it is best to dilute it to avoid sensitisation).
Of the 30 or so species of Lavender, the most well known is Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender), closely followed by Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender) and Lavandula x intermedia (Lavandin) which is a cross breed of the first two.
Try diffusing Lavender while you meditate, as it can not only help attain deeper meditative states, but is said to balance the heart chakra and harmonise higher and lower chakras.
Lavender is safe for dogs and other large animals like horses. It can safely be used while pregnant or breastfeeding, and with small children.
