Forget the toxin-filled supermarket products and say 'no thanks' to the overpriced organic beauty ranges that may as well be laced with gold. Simply make your own DIY bath and beauty products that will save you money and offer great results! Try out the recipes below and make your way toward a toxin-free beauty cabinet.

Soothing Hand Scrub

1. Coconut oil

2. Essential Oil of your choice

3. Sugar

The results from this scrub are oh-so-good. Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a jar and use as a scrub. This one can get a little messy so use it over the bathroom sink or even whilst enjoying a bath. Your hands will be silky smooth afterwards. This is particularly useful for any tradie husbands who struggle with rough hands. Choose an essential oil scent that hubby likes and you may even convince him to use it!

Avocado Face Mask

1. Half a squishy avocado

2. 1 tbs honey

3. 2 drops of tea tree oil

Mix all of the ingredients together with a fork, wash your face with your favourite cleanser and then apply the mask. Leave the avo to sit for about 20minutes and then wash off with a washcloth and warm water.

The avocado is extremely nourishing and hydrating and the tea tree oil has antimicrobial properties that give your skin a real freshen up.

Coco Hair Mask

1. 2 tbs Coconut Oil

2. 2 tbs Avocado Oil

Mix both of the oils together and heat them slightly on the stove (or you could use your Thermomix if you have one). Apply the warm oils to your ends and leave in for around 15 minutes. It's best to do this treatment in the bathroom or, even better, in the bath, as it can get a little messy. Coconut oil and Avocado oil are also great for your skin so any extra drops falling into the tub won't go a waste.

Coco Loco

Coconut oil is SO versatile. If you don't have a jar in your cupboard then go grab one right away. It can be used as cooking oil, body moisturiser (highly recommend!) and as a carrier oil for a number of different DIY beauty products. A major goal here at Wellbeing Choices is to live as toxin-free as possible, and many of the ingredients in supermarket moisturisers are not great. Your skin is your body's biggest organ so you need to take care of it. Don't waste your money on over-priced organic products, simply grab a bottle of coconut oil next time your skin is on the dry side and lather up.

Do you have any tips to share on your favourite DIY beauty products? We'd love to hear!
