June’s Oil of the Month will let you experience Cardamom essential oil from a whole new perspective! Warm, herbal, camphoraceous and somewhat sweet and spicy, it's the closest you can get to the original plant.
But don't just take our word for it, see what other OOTM club members have to say!
Historically, Cardamom has been widely used in food, perfumery, and medicine. In the kitchen, its complex flavour lends itself well to sweet and savoury dishes as well as beverages. Sourced from the Elettaria cardamomum tree, it is a member of the ginger family and can be found in forests in Burma, India and Sri Lanka amongst others.
Green Cardamom CO2 has a high percentage of esters and natural antiseptic, tonic, stimulant, expectorant, stomachic, antispasmodic, digestive, antimicrobial, diuretic, and carminative properties. Besides increasing blood circulation, vitality, and energy levels, this oil has quite a long list of benefits ascribed to it.
Green Cardamom CO2 Extract is considered a full-spectrum oil in that it retains a lot of the constituents found in the fresh plant material. This is because it foregoes the use of high heat that can damage the constituents and instead uses carbon dioxide gas and low pressure. The result? A far more superior oil that closely resembles the plant in both scent and chemical makeup.
Fresh, green, and zesty is how we would describe Green Cardamom CO2’s aromatic profile. It is decidedly closer to the original scent and is both uplifting and invigorating but also calming and grounding. It’s a great oil to use when you’re fighting off drowsiness or struggling to keep your focus. Emotionally, Green Cardamom is beneficial in fending off feelings of sadness, worries, anxiousness, exhaustion, and more. It’s warming, sensual, and is believed to have natural aphrodisiac qualities so you might want to keep it on hand in the bedroom!
