Super Simple Fruit and Veggie Wash

Try this super simple fruit and veggie wash to ensure your fresh produce is free from any pesticide residue before you feed it to your families.

There's nothing like coming home from the store with a whole heap of fresh fruit and veg. Is there any better way to make you feel like a superhuman than a fridge stocked full of fresh produce? So fresh, so healthy, so zen. 

Having a fridge and pantry stocked full of healthy produce just has a way of making you feel like your whole life is on track. But even when you thought you were on the right track there may be a chance that the fresh produce you've stocked up on ain't so fresh after all. So many of the fruits and veggies that we buy in stores today are still coated in pesticide residue and even waxes to make them look shiny!

Don't let these scary facts deter you from packing those plates full of fresh and healthy produce, simply ensure that you wash all of your fruit and veg once you get it home from the store. Even doing a simple clean water wash will remove some of the nasties. Try out this super simple fruit and veggie wash below to give your fresh fruit and veg a germ-free wash that'll have your superhuman status back on track. Added bonus: these washes will likely even make your fruit and vegetables last longer.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

This wash is super simple but can really do wonders for removing any bugs or dirt build up on your fresh fruit and veg. Plus, it's all natural (of course).

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

2 tablespoons of distilled white vinegar

1 cup of water

Pop all of these ingredients into a spray bottle and mix well. Spray the mixture onto your fresh produce and then rinse with water.

Lettuce and co.

Because leafy greens like lettuce and spinach have been found to be more susceptible to carrying germs, you could soak these in this simple mixture for a few minutes to really remove any nasties. 

1 cup of distilled white vinegar

3 cups of water

Soak the greens in a bowl for a minute or two and then pat dry. Make sure that your leaves are all dry before putting them into the fridge otherwise they won't last as long.
