A staple in Mediterranean cuisines, Thyme is more than just a flavourful addition to your lamb recipes. It can easily transition from the dinner table to your bathroom counter and medicine cabinet because of its extensive health and therapeutic benefits.
A gentler alternative to Thyme Thymol, Thyme Linalool has antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antiseptic, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, uterotonic, cardiotonic, and neurotonic properties. The Egyptians used it for their embalming practice while the ancient Greeks and Romans used it to inspire courage and purify their homes and temples.
Plant Therapy's Thyme Linalool is an excellent go-to essential oil during the cold and flu season. When literally everyone around you is sick, use Thyme in your homemade disinfectant spray and foaming hand soap to boost your immune system. When you do get a cold and sniffles, this oil is great for chest rubs and steam inhalation! Plus points for its fresh, clean, and herbaceous scent that is also calming and grounding.
Thyme is also beneficial for your skin and hair. As a natural yet powerful cleanser and skin purifier, it is great for those with oily or blemished skin. Try adding a few drops into your favourite cleansers, toners, or moisturisers. You can even make your own homemade soaps! Thinning hair? This oil also promotes hair growth by stimulating the scalp and rejuvenating hair follicles. Try adding it to shampoos and conditioners for healthier and more luscious locks!

Essential oils are natural, but they are also concentrated. We recommend following basic safety precautions when using your oils:
Essential oils should not be ingested, unless it is under the guidance of a suitably qualified practitioner.
Do not use oils undiluted on the skin, unless the instructions permit otherwise. Many oils can cause irritation when placed directly on skin, particularly on sensitive areas such as the eyes or mouth. Some oils (particularly those in the citrus family) can cause photosensitivity if used prior to going out in the sun - please check instructions carefully.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult your healthcare practitioner prior to using essential oils. As a general guideline, oils should be avoided for the first four months of pregnancy and never used undiluted. Some oils should be avoided during pregnancy: Bay, Basil, Cedar wood, Clary Sage, Comfrey, Cypress, Fennel, Ginger, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Lemongrass, Marjoram, Melissa, Myrrh, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary, Sage & Thyme.
Children can be particularly affected by essential oils. Some oils should not be used in children under the age of 7, and specific dilution ratios are recommended depending on the essential oil and the age of the child. We recommend consulting an appropriate practitioner prior to using oils on children.
